1/59 1/16/59 Vern Estes' "MABEL-1" spits out 1st Model Rocket Motor for MMI. Vern sells 500 motors to Model Missiles,Inc at $0.07 a piece.(Thats an almost amazing 50% off the price of the Brown Mfg. ones, not to mention a quantum leap in reliability and dependability of the motors.) under the name of Estes Enterprises.

The Era of automated machine made, commercial BP model rocket engines begins. .

1/59 Orv Carlise sends a "cease and desist" order letter to Menford Sutton's Coaster Corp. alleging "patent infringement".

4/59 Arcon Kit announced in Elyria, Ohio Chronicle Telegram Newspaper

4/59 NAR is invited to Las Vegas, NV for Nationwide TV demonstration of Model Rocketry. While at this demonstration G. Harry Stine and John Roe give the US NAA & FAI President Jacquline Cochran,a full briefing on Model Rocketry. This lays the groundwork for model rocketry to become a FAI sport.

This Month in Model Rocketry History July 1959


7/59 MMI Ad introduces Super B6 (Estes B.8) extra altitude rocket motors using "Sam the Spaceman" "It's what's in the Tail that Counts!" Models of both the Aerobee-Hi and the Arcon are shown. What appears to be a booster stage stands behind Sam.

7/59 7/16-20/59 Estes Enterprises provides model rocket motors for NARAM-1. NARAM-1 held at Denver,CO. There are 21 attendees. Ist NAR Model Rocket Competition held Hogback Range Green Mountain Denver,CO between NAR sections Mile-High and Peak City out of Colorado Springs.

7/22/1959 Representative David S. King of Utah introduced HR 8334 , "A bill to amend the NASA Act of 1958 to encourage particpation in amateur rocketry, particularly among young people.... NASA strongly oppposed this legislation.

7/59 7/24/59 Vernon Estes applied for "Toy Rocket Motor" patent # 3,125,955

7/59 7/30/59 G.Harry Stine loses control of MMI at a board meeting to Richard D. Keller. G. Harry soon there after goes to work for Denver based Stanley Aviation working on the design of the B-58 clamshell ejection pod.
