Eric-
You've pulled together a wealth of information and it shows. Lots of detail here that many of us might not otherwise know about. Good job! Earl

Wow!
Thank you for putting this together! Just checked out a couple of my favorites from the 60's. Ordered my first rockets from the back of Boy's Life magazine. Eventually a local craft store stocked them. Built 3-of the Honest John's. It was and still is, one of my all time favorites. Mike |

Has anyone scanned in the instruction sheet for the old Mercury Capsule? I see pictures of the package on Eric's site, but no other information anywhere.
I have the Semroc clone; I'm just curious about the historical context of the original.

Merc Capsule
Thanks for all the kind comments. I really enjoy the challenge of assembling this material. It's funny, I never thought I would go in this direction to satisfy my love of rocketry, but none the less this gives me the same satisfaction as flying my favorite rockets. I still have alot of pieces for the promotional pages and timeline. The only problem is that there are only 24 hrs in a day!
@stefanj: The links below lead to the Mercury Capsule Instruction sheet. I havent cleaned it up yet, but here it is since you asked: PSM-1 Front PSM-1 Back These are BIG files and will take 1 to 2 minutes to load. Thanks again gang! Eric

I have the Estes instruction sheet. If no one has it scanned already I'd be happy to do that. Just noticed that Eric posted a link. The one I have is similar but slightly different. I don't know which is older.

Scan yours and attach it here. If the file is too big, email it to me at scotth at wi dot rr dot com and I'll put it up on YORS and put a link to it in this message thread for you.

Thanks for posting the Mercury Capsule instructions!
This little thing was listed in the 1970 catalog. It struck me as an oddity and anachronism. Why not sell an Apollo capsule? For many years afterwards, the Universal Shroud kit (TA-1) had a lingering clue as to the existence of the Mercury Capsule; the shroud pattern had a line for "MC" printed on it. I'll build a retro-model based on the instructions for use with my Semroc Mercury Capsule.

Actually, the one from the 1970 catalogue is what I refer to as a type II. You can see it here . The one I posted is from 1963. That's the first year it was in the catalogue.

Okay, here it is. It's a type II but it's older than 1970 because I was in college then and I wasn't buying rocket stuff. Oops, not it isn't. It's too big. I'll email it.
