The first Hyundai's imported into the USA were at least as bad as the Yugo.
Total POS turds. I would never consider purchasing a foreign headquartered brand car even if made in the USA unless it is a European Prestige brand, and even then it would ONLY be for a second "toy" car, not as daily transportation. Many brands I would not even be caught dead sitting in, let alone riding anywhere in. Then again, I would never buy an American motorcycle either as not a one made-in-USA motorcycle even sounds like the way a motorcycle should sound...also if I wanted a vibrating shaking mess, I'd ride a PAINT MIXER, not some grossly overpriced Hardly-Movingsen.

A week later it died completely because what passed for the frame had been bent and the engine and transmission no longer mated up correctly, causing them to eat each other to death. Never found out the final story, but last I heard the insurance company was swearing that everything that had happened after the car was "fixed" was another matter entirely and not their fault. That said, both my 2004 and 2010 Elantras have been fantastic. I would imagine that a 2016 will be in my future unless I feel like I can pull the trigger on my dream car, a VW GTI.
