Default Birthday launch - B6-4 Field, Ft. Thomas, KY

This one didn't turn out that well. Yesterday the skies were bright blue and the breezes light. Today we still had the bright blue, but the winds started kicking up about 20 minutes after I got to the field.

First of all, a pic for Scott.

Not as fresh as last week, but it still had the flies buzzing.

First flight was the Quest Area 51 Saucer on a C6-3. Made the mistake of not checking my camera settings and the pics for the most part didn't turn out. Flight was pretty cool. I got to see the flame on the way up and the ejection charge on the way down. It didn't pop, it just flared.

Next was the first flight of the Quest Full Moon. With the breeze blowing like it was I was afraid to go with the B6-4 I normally would have flown it on. Went with an A8-3. Flight was perfect with a recovery over near the road. I still need to put on the sticker.

Next was the first flight of the Mini Lemon Max on an A3-4T. Another perfect flight that arced behind the "flightline", then recovered over behind third base, in FAIR territory, but bouncing foul. An easy double in the old days.

What turned out to be the last flight of the day was the Semroc Moon-Glo on an A8-3. I knew it would scream off the pad, but I figured the streamer would keep it on the field. It did at first, but then the wind moved in. I found it later in the day. A block and a half away across US 27 on S. Ft. Thomas Avenue.

It landed hard on the asphalt. It won't look this good again.

See, told you the day didn't turn out too well.

I see no better way to spend a birthday, regardless of the outcome. Love that Lemon Max, happy birthday!
