I wondered that myself. That could have helped explain the 'orrible flight path.

Nope, not even a close call on Sunday. This one cinched me up a little, I'll admit.

The Yankee Clipper was a kit from a later version of the Estes Aerospace Club that brought us the EAC Viper. This wasn't quite as big a hit.

The last flight came in ballistic after stripping the Mylar chute. That was, well, a long time ago. The front of the body tube got crunched a bit, but it's still flyable.

The second flight was the polar opposite. Perfect flight and recovery.......

......and stuck the landing.

The Semroc Aerobee-Hi, a bird that I just found while cleaning a couple of weeks ago. Fell behind a shelf.

A8-3 flight. Straight up and recovered at the edge of 1/2A6-2 Field.

As you can see, 1/2A6-2 Field is undergoing some construction. They're taking over the girl's softball complex up next to school for a Field House. This will be the new home of the Lady Bluebirds. So far, I'm impressed.

My Spirit of '69 Big Bertha was next on a B6-4.

Ignition was fine. Check.

Liftoff passed without incident. Check.

Once it was out of camera view, BOOM! No check here. This one had nowhere near the force of the one that slayed the Sky Writer, but it exploded, no doubt there. The Bertha cartwheeled around the sky and settled to earth on the undamaged parachute. The perma-wadding and Kevlar took the brunt of the blast. No damage. No one more surprised than myself.

I thought I was winding down, but the box seemed to have no bottom. I don't remember packing all of the rockets I bought, but only a couple didn't fly. The Astron Mark II did. A8-3 flight with a shred of a Mylar streamer from 2001 left in her.

Headed back over toward the school, then steered itself out of danger and recovered on the outfield grass.

Next bird was a surprise. Like many of you, I bought a Gauchito many moons ago and it never captured my interest. It was one of the kits I found while cleaning, along with the Lucky 7. The Lucky 7 still doesn't interest me, but I'm now a Gauchito fan.

Still in all white, but I scanned the decals and printed them out as water slides. Just need to find some paint for the cone.

A3-4T flight and it stuck the landing. Getting the motor out might be a challenge.

The Semroc Micron flew on an A8-3. Impressive flight, and same flight path as the Astron Mark II.

Which led to the Empire Bomarc, a rocket that I've long had an adversarial relationship with. B6-4 flight, which had worked fine in the past.
Nope.

The Bomarc left the rod and immediately began turning for the ground, which it found. It buried the nose cone in the infield and the motor burned for several seconds before blasting the rocket back across the field.

Tough bird. Hope it enjoys its retirement.

Deer poop for Scott.

It was REALLY time to leave, but I still had a B6-4 left, so I stuck it in the Yellow Star Crayon. I had a C6-3, but forgot about trying that combination. Once again, it tipped over and began screaming down, ejecting the chute a mere 20 feet from the ground.

B6-2s would also work. Need to pick some up on this weeks trip to Hobby Lobby.

No poos were harmed in the making of this flight report.
