They look totally scratch built to me with off the shelf parts and anything else they could make do with. Definite hard core rocketeers.

Good to see some girls in the mix, too - with the Constellation (she has good taste) and in the first picture, as well as one of the later pictures.

Lots of BNC-20A nose cones in that first group.

Oh - and that's an early Alpha III, not an Alpha II (which is externally identical to the original all balsa fins/nose cone Alpha) in the first picture in post 5.
