The last pic in the first post (two kids launching the Challenger I) has to be my favorite. The whole "eyes-closed-leanin'-back-and-hittin'-the-go-button" pose is priceless.
The Cigarette ignition system with bend-a-rod launch pad is a close second. Thank-you very much for posting these.

Found it! The location of post #5
Found it! The location of post #5. The girls and Fire Chief.
The clue was the naughty fireman. Shame on him. St Augustine School in Covington, KY. Bill, you now have a mission if you choose to accept it. (Cue music and the reel to reel tape player.) The lot is gone, looks like there are homes built on it now. Also, that 1st pic in post #5, those kids could be from R.A. Jones Middle School in nearby Florence, KY(R.A.S.A.) or the 'R' could be the kids last name. IDK.

Bill, I wonder if you can find out what happened to the naughty Fireman? It would be cool to follow up and see where he might be if he's still with us?

The rockets in the first pic have horrible finishes on every one of them. A 5 yr old with a roller could do better.
The last pic of the 'falling' rocket looks like it is powered with one of those FSI E6 or F7 giant almost-no-thrust smoke bomb motors.

Getting back to the pic of the Fire Chief launching with the young ladies, I'm guessing it was done in the Baseball field across the street from the school.
Any guesses?

Excellent work, considering that you're not from the area. St. Augustine is also the area where the kids are catching the unidentified rocket. It is marked as Glenn O Swing School, but they're very close to each other. This is where my father in law grew up, in fact, St. Augustine was his parish. The ballfield is still there, and if you follow the Google map you can still kind of see how the sightlines were set up if you use 39.064415,-84.51211 as your coordinates. I'm not familiar with the Covington fire department, but I should be able to find out something about Captain Charles Reed. No idea about the RASA pic. I figured RASA was their takeoff on NASA, but I'm currently at a loss to figure out what the R stood for.

Maybe their school started with an "R".

I thought of that, but the pic lists them from Park Hills, and I don't know of any "R" schools in that area. Then again, these were all taken in Kenton County, which is the next county over. I'm somewhat familiar with it, but not that familiar.
