Default Art Rose

I got this email today. I don't think I know the person who sent it but I assume it's authentic.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to pass on the news that Art Rose passed away on Wednesday, and was laid to rest Thursday with many friends and family attending.

Art was a former Gold Medalist in international competition, a multiple time NAR Champion, and designer of the famous Rose-A-Roc helicopter duration model and the Rose fin jig.

Art had been in declining health, but was still alert and engaged when I last saw him on Wednesday of last week. He was in good sprits and ready to continue work in his shop.

Condolences go out to his wife Janet, son Harry, daughter Oliva, and all of his family and friends across the world.

If you know of others that knew him, please pass on this sad news. We all will miss him.

I only exchanged emails a few times with Art back when I was buying one of his fin jigs. Much of what I know about Art comes from the spoken word of those who knew him, and his legacy for the model rocketry community. Art was one of the Greats, as far as our hobby goes. He was a long-time supporter, innovator, and champion of the hobby. I hope those who knew him better might share with us here. For my part, I am saddened at his passing. He will be missed.

Stop with the crass and search the file I POSTED for Art Rose and see he was a prolific author about internats, FAI, fiberglass airframes, copter and glide recovery and more. Publish or perish Wolfram.

BTW it is a simple fact I published four articles in Model Rocketeer magazine. 1980's. I doubt anybody will ever read them since they are not searchable.

I'd like to know when and where Art Rose was born, where he lived and how he came to create his magnificent Jig which bears his name. I tried to get some feedback over on TRF but without much success.

RIP Art Rose.

From the other related thread: "This was posted on the Old Rockets forum . . . by "Geoffrey" ".

My advise is to ask Geoff to post a bio.

Upon further reading, I think this is the "Geoffrey" I've been looking for:

Perhaps he will see this and post a bio about Art Rose?
