So, did the DBRM ever get released with the blowmolded NC? If so, can someone scan the plans showing the one piece nosecone?

Thanks!

I got a DBRM in the starter set with the Bigfoot launch system, and it had the traditional, single-piece blow-molded cone.

You wouldn't by any chance happen to still have the instructions would you?

Don't think so - but I'll take a look. Silence means "no joy!"

I have a two piece injection molded PNC-60AH that is molded in white. The injection molded cone is noticeably heavier than the blow molded version. The cone was in a Citation Patriot bought in 1976.

Photos? Preferably with a blowmolded one beside it, and some kind scaling instrument (e.g. ruler or US Quarter Dollar)?

I did a google search on the DBRM and found this:

http://www.oldrocketforum.com/showthread.php?t=6337

So yes, it was made with the one piece cone also.

I also found this on the 2-piece search

http://www.oldrocketforum.com/print...hp?t=2898&pp=40

I have a 2-piece on a built rocket, but it isn't readily acceassable now. I hope this helps you.

How in the World did I miss those threads? Wow!

Thanks for sharing those threads with me!

Ok, I learned a couple of other new facts about the two-piece PNC-60AH.
1) it was made in both black and white plastic.

2) The exposed section of the nosecone is shorter than the blowmolded version (by about 1/4").

3) Early (1970- ?) Estes Omega's shipped with the white NC.

In looking at the assembled rockets made by scigs30, I've noticed that the rockets still don't look like the versions seen in the catalogs. It's not that they're shorter, it's the overall shape of the nosecone. The catalog models look... fuller?, rounder?. I don't know how to express this well enough, it's almost like the difference between an ogive, and a "fat" ogive. Oh... I've got it... the catalog models look more elliptical than what I see in the PNC-60AH (either version).

If anything, I'd say the shape looks more like it may have been a balsa nosecone used in prototyping instead of the production models.
