Centuri B4-x Minis : peak thrust?
Does anyone have any detailed information on the 13mm*2.5" mini B motors? I guess I'm especially interested in peak thrust.
I could use this Fieldpoint Strain Gauge module and these strain gauges I've got sitting around and finally build me a test stand - but I'd rather spend the time build and flying models. Little ones. Really high.

You might find that info in the old Centuri catalogs on the Ninfinger site.
I once flew a 2-stage minimum-diameter (BT-5) rocket on a B4-0M to B4-6M combo. It went REALLY high and I did not get it back. It looked a lot like a BT-5 based Arrow-300.

When you piston launch it, it goes about 15% higher. Tracked them but didn't get them back. Those were awesome motors!

If you have a thrust time curve for a 18mm B4, it will be close. The B4M burns for 1.25 seconds, the regular B4 for 1.2 seconds. I still have several boxes of B4-3M and B4-5M motors I have not burned yet. I never saw a B4-0M in the catalogs....

I just picked up a case of them B4-3s from Mike/Otis. I've got these lovely 13mm rockets, like a mini Photon Distuptor, Estes blenders, etc. That. Need. To. Go. Higher. Maybe even my Tercel. Hmmmm.

Yep, the ninfinger site , 1974 catalog had a little more info. Not peak thrust, but confirmed what Joe said. Also had mini kits. Man, I was already looking at the Fireflash for an upscale. Now I'll need to do an original.
I've already stopped putting motor blocks in my mid power models. Who new I was going to regret putting them in the 13mm ones?

In my mini engine models, I've used an expended B4M casing to position the engine blocks and each one of the Centuri A4 types boxes have a spacer that can be used to put the shorter 13 mm motors in the model.
The only problem I've ran into with the B4M's is the ejection charge did not pop in two of them over the years. I wonder if Estes would honor the warranty???? |

Maybe it was MPC that had B4 mini-boosters.
I know I staged B mini motors in the past. I once flew a B4-3 in an Estes Dragonfly pop-pod boost glider and got it back. That flight was in dead-calm wind conditions and I'm still surprised I got both pieces back.
