Default Payload antennas (links)

Hello All,

Before I get to what I came across just this morning (the information and links on it are included below), I was wondering if a new forum section--devoted to model rocket (and perhaps also HPR rocket) *payloads*, particularly active ones containing instruments and transmitters--might be worthwhile to add to our forum here. ALSO:

I just found documents that describe and illustrate how canted turnstile omnidirectional antennas are installed on spacecraft (including how they are coupled to the spacecraft’s transmitters and receivers); the below-linked 1967 NASA paper says that spacecraft’s sizes, in terms of wavelengths, do significantly affect how the matching is done, as I’d suspected—but couldn’t find any information on—until now, *and*:

As well as being useful for building AMSAT/OSCAR satellites of all sizes, including CubeSats and even < 10 gram FemtoSats, these references might also be useful for constructing effective antennas and matching systems for radio transmitter-equipped (and TV transmitter-equipped) model rocket and HPR payloads, so I figured I’d pass them along to you; they are:

“The Canted Turnstile as an Omnidirectional Spacecraft Antenna System” (by R. B. Jackson, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, 9/9/1967): https://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/...19670027843.pdf

Here are other canted turnstile satellite antenna articles: http://www.google.com/search?source...1.0.3MU1pttfBUY

I hope this material will be helpful.
