Default Suspending the arms race

I don't know if it's just the time of year or something more sinister, but I'm again finding myself with a ton of kits/parts saved up and little time to build and fly them. Add to this a repair on our primary car, an impending one on my son's car, school fees, residual vacation costs, and continued skating lessons and I'm approaching a financial crisis. I think the vendors will have to get along without my regular cash infusions until after Christmas. (Christmas! Geez, I forgot all about that! )

For me, I think/hope it's the time of year. Putting the kids back in school (2 of them in Catholic grade school and 1 in public grade school) costs a ton of money and will continue to do so until next May.

I can't wait until they're in college!

Fortunately, I'm making my final payment on the minivan next month... which will only make up for 60% of the monthly school tuition, but it's better than nothing.

This may explain why I've been working 5 or 10 hours overtime every two weeks lately.

Shoot, try Catholic high school tuition. Almost makes a public university look cheap. I have ran two through JCA with two more still there......

I know what you mean. Two of my kids are at a Lutheran parochial grade school and the oldest just started at a Lutheran parochial high school. Talk about $$$, ouch!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my kids will be going to public high school, at least based on what I make now. Once my wife starts working again (now that the boys are all in school), we'll see how things go.

Looks like JCA's costs are roughly on par with St. Thomas or Strake Jesuit here in Houston, so yeah.

Guys, I don't want to throw a wet blanket on your Catholic party, but I think I should point out that I'm a product of a Catholic education. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Back to your topic, I did quite a bit of building and finishing this summer, but I don't even have time to fart now that school has started back. I'm doing a minimum of 10.5 hour days with some days considerably longer, plus any planning, grading, etc. at night. My middle school football team plays once a week, my son is on the JV squad and I'm doing Friday nights with varsity too, so that's three nights a week that I don't get home until bedtime or later. Oh...and for some reason, I'm the designated homework checker for the kids even though the wife's new job is much less demanding. Hmmmm....I think I'm getting the shaft.

I'll say. Cutting into a guy's fart time, that's CRUEL!
