Default Are you serious?

Maybe I missed something but us this kit really worth this much???

Estes Shuttle - eBay

Most of them have been in the $40-$60 range I believe, but $125+. Yikes. Looks like I will get the Zooch kit, I can't afford that. Nor justify it.

hmmmm.

Somebody is smokin' something here.
That thing isn't even SEALED either....stinks like some false bidding is afoot.
Only a FOOL would pay even close to that for an OPENED 1284 Shuttle.
The only time opened kits have even close to this value is when they are extremely rare (which this is NOT) kits that contain very hard to clone parts (this is hard to clone due to all the plastic).
I paid MUCH less than that for my opened ENERJET (not Centuri) Nike Smoke kit two years ago and that is not only very rare (probably less than 1% of the size of the 1284 Shuttle production run), it also contains a very hard to clone hollow nose cone.
That kit in it's opened condition should go for no more than $35.00; ANY more IS a WASTE of $$$ !

I agree there must be some falsa bidding going on here. I find with Ebay to just put my highest bid in and leave it. Sometimes I get lucky.

Default At $125 + I have one I'll Sell...

Sealed and complete... And a Gemini Titan, to for that matter!

Truth of the matter is, I was at a regional Girl Scout campout at the local county fair grounds with my model rocket display, Estes catalogs & NAR handouts accompanied by CTRA members representing the high-powered rocketry end of things, when a NASA Educator (7 branches of NASA had displays, simulators & moonrocks!) came up to me asking if I could come up with all the flying model rockets of the manned launch vehicles. I had a good start on them, assembled, so I told him I would get back to him. A year later I emailed him but never got a response.

After that time, I found out about Neubauer (Sp?) Rockets 1/100th scale Mercury Redstone, Gemini Titan and even coaxed him out of producing another (long out of production) Mercury Atlas. I have a flying Centuri Saturn 1B (twin 18mm engine mounts) which only gets air on the most perfect of days. So I have ready to assemble everything but a 1/100th scale shuttle. Then George Gassaway tipped me of to the fact that the Guillow 'catapult launched' Space Shuttle (styrofoam) is just about 1/100 scale. Eureka! The ET will be 3" BT so the only 'thorn' is the 1.5" SRB tubes. Carl Does list a series 15 body tube, though...

I paid just a tad over $36 for an opened #1284 Space Shuttle..Just got it Monday afternoon before going to work..THat price was right at the utmost I was willing to pay for it..But $129.50?!?!? That is just NUTS! It was one of the 3 Shuttles that were up on ebay that I put on my 'watch' list..Once it got over $35 I was over that one..Crazy..shakes head and shuts up....

I've noticed that over the last six or seven months the prices for model rocket kits on ebay has jumped quite a bit. I've even seen some of the Star Wars kits selling for way more than they are worth.

I thought that maybe due to the introduction of Launch magazine, the specials that have run on cable over the last year or two on model rocket launches, and the movie Rocket Farmer, more people are out there re-connecting with their rocket roots and looking to buy kits.

I do agree thought that this price for the shuttle is way out of line even in a tighter market.
