hello people i am a new kid on the block have been building rockets off and on from the 70's thru current day. what i am looking for is the andromida kit from estes . had it in he 70's need to replace it. if anyone has one let me know i am in the market. not sure how the name is spelled but you get the idea. thanks.

Of course you can search eBay for a kit, but you'll probably pay top dollar for it if one ever comes up and you win it.

Currently there are no same-size clone kits available, but there *is* a 1.6x upscale from QModeling (www.qmodeling.com).

There are Andromeda-inspired kits at FlisKits (www.fliskits.com) like the Alien8 and the NightWhisper.

Of course, I should mention that you can build your own clone from parts. The instructions are at http://www.dars.org/jimz/estes/est1273.pdf , and parts can be had from either FlisKits or Semroc (www.semroc.com ) or BMS (www.balsamachining.com ). Phred's got the decals over at Excelsior Rocketry (http://towrowrow.tripod.com/excelsiorrocketry/id1.html ).

I got all of the parts I needed to clone an Anromeda from Semroc. In fact, it looks like they are putting together a classic kit (X kit soon) for this model. Most of the parts are already here. Instructions are at Jimz. Here are the links. That should be all you need.

You might want to drop Carl at Semroc a line and see how close he is to making the die cut fins for this model. He might be able to bang it out for you pretty quickly. Of course, you can just trace and cut them yourself as well.

That is GREAT news! I have the QModeling version but haven't started to build it yet, mostly because the darn thing is so big when finished I'm not sure where I'm going to keep/display it.

I will definitely purchase the Semroc version when it comes out.

You don't have to wait for a "kit" to be produced. Just go to the page I provided a link for, click on all the "add" buttons, go to check out, and the parts will be in the mail faster than a bolt of lightning. If you've never before dealt with Semroc, you are in for a great experience, as they raise the bar quite high for an online sales company.

If you'd like a smaller rocket to go with your QModeling Andromeda, have a look at the Rocketflite Oddyssey. When painted well, it is a stunning rocket.

I sure have dealt with Semroc and I agree 100 percent, their service is lightning fast. Orders almost arrive before you send them when you are dealing with Semroc.

Thanks for the lead. I built the original kit as a kid and it was one of my favorites. For the life of me I have no idea what ever happened to it though.
