Default New Goony

This should have been finished already, but I ran into some trouble making 6080 centering rings and finding a five fin BT-80 fin alignment guide. I call it the Vector G. As you may be able to tell, it's made from scraps. The nose cone is from an old Baby Bertha that was flown to death. The bottom body tube is from a length of BT-80 that was really too short for anything else. The BT-60 had a kink in it, and the transition was made using a mailing advertisement. Centering rings were made using the cardboard back of an old notepad that had been used once previously judging by the big missing section. About the only thing that isn't scrounged is the engine mount. It won't be pretty by tomorrow, (well, it'll probably never be pretty,) but I'm hoping to have it in flying shape by then.

I think this counts as "flying shape".

Hey, at least it won't be hard to get the chute in. Dang I hate that... the ST-7 is so SHORT on the Vector V, and so narrow, that getting wadding plus the chute in is a real trial.

I'm considering a non-goony upscale...

Looks great Bill but please get it painted. Those Buffalo Chicken and Steak ads that you used for the transition are making me hungry .....

Pretty cool and I like the use of almost all scrounged parts to build it with.

I sprayed it with primer before I flew it. Loses some of the character that way, but it looks more uniform.
(I just noticed that on the pad shot you can see the fin that broke off very clearly. It's the left-most fin. )

I know what you mean. The hardest part of building the big one was wrapping my head around all of the necessary tubing and the best way to get them all together in a working model. I doubt that Carl would consider this a true SLS kit because just writing the instructions could drive a strong man to his knees. (Although there's probably a MUCH simpler way to do it than the way I did it. )
Intermediate? Interesting idea. What kind of tube combo were you thinking of?
