I received the Enerjet Nike Smoke today.
The "smoker" tube IS in fact BT-5 sized, not the BT-3 that I recalled was in the previous Nike-Smoke I examined.
I will take measurements/digital pics of all the parts before I assemble the kit.
A couple of things that I found curious about the kit:
1) the shock cord is "Standard" Centuri 1/8" shock cord, but it is 4 FEET LONG !
2) the shock cord anchor looks like a standard centuri anchor except it is 2X scale !
3) the silk 'chute is about one of the best I have EVER seen as a stock chute

The only bad thing about the kit other than it missing the face card is that the 2"x 1/8" launch lug is missing.

The nose cone/ balsa 1/8" fins are EXACTLY the same as the "regular" Centuri Nike Smoke kit I have....might have to re-think the fin attachment method...they show no "glue rivets" or anything stronger than "Regular" model (not mid-power) rocket wood glue & fillet attachment....how could this possibly work for more than 1 flight on a 80 n-sec F67-9 ?
I'm thinking of using epoxy fillets as a minimum and coating each fin with epoxy to stiffen them.

According to the instructions, one is supposed to use a steel 1/8" x 36" rod for launching this kit.
Seems awfully small for a 80 n-sec F67-9 doesn't it ????

As the lug is missing, I'm going to go with a more SANE lug size of 3/16" even though it technically is not corect for the kit.

We already have a scan of the instructions and decal from Sean Lannan. I forgot I had those online. What we're missing though is the template for the fins. Also, it would be nice to have a scan of the shock cord mount since you said it's larger than normal. I believe Kinkos has a scanner. Also, what kind of cone is the "nose cone plug"?
Actuall photos and measurements of the parts would also go great. Thanks!

When you go to pop them out of the sheet for building, first go get one scanned. You can lay it on the scanner bed and put the top down without a problem. Many of my plan scans have actual fin scans done just like that.

They are already popped out of the sheet....the kit is 33 yrs old you know....
Should I just scan a fin ?
The nose cone is a small plastic ogive/elliptical cone that is the shape of a Semroc balsa BC-510P.

Heh, all the easier. Yes, if you'd scan a fin and put like a little metal ruler next to it on the scanning bed that would be great. Maybe lay the shock cord mount on the opposite side of the ruler.

If you could take a close-up photo of the small cone with a ruler next to it that would also be great.

Instead of using the scanner could I just take digital pics vertically above the parts with a ruler next to them ?...that would be the easiest by far for me to do....the nearest Kinko's with a scanner is about 25mi. away.

I am in the process of modifying a Quest Nike Smoke cone to spew tracking powder and am interested in the details of the Enerjet model. I agree, digital photos would be great I found a general diagram http://rocketdungeon.blogspot.com/2...cone-contd.html but need to know the number of holes, their sizes, how the tracking powder is loaded, etc.

Nice catch GH! Being an EnerJet fan although not a "collector purist" I would fly it also. I'm sure you'll enjoy building that model. Great to win the auction on that one.

More likely I will fly using a Semroc 24mm adapter.

Although I wouldn't fly that original on a 29mm motor either, I would build a second one to fly on 29mm F and G motors, EconoJets & single use. Part of my enjoyment of building an EnerJet clone is to experience flying them on the larger motors as was the original intent of the designs. I'm hoping to put a few flights on some of mine at our HPR field real soon.

It requires a lot of recovery space using a long streamer and it's not for everyone but that's how I roll .....
