Default Starship Vega question

What is the exposed length of the nose cone? I was making a few cones and one had a bad spot in the wood, but I managed to salvage it . It's the right shape, hopefully it close to the right length.

The one I have calls it the PNC50-V. I guess I'll do some more looking.

I think the list I'm looking at is for cloning so I think that's why it list a BNC-50AR. The original parts list (kit plans) for the Citation Starship Vega lists the PNC-50V.

Patty Pilot,
I'm pretty sure this is the same nose cone that is currently available in the Skywriter. You're welcome to one of mine if you want to make a comparison.

This is one of those Estes parts for which we have to have detailed road maps to identify...

The balsa version, BNC-50V, has a short cylindrical transition section between the conical portion and the shoulder, maybe no more than 1/2". The plastic version, which also goes by the ID of PNC-50BB, was used in the 1260 No. 2 Sky Writer, the 1904 Maverick, the 1370 Meteor and the 1293 Black Brant III. The 5-digit numbers for that part are 71025 (PNC-50V) and 71027 (PNC-50BB). It has a longer 1" cylindrical section ahead of the shoulder.

So all that having been said, the cone is 1" of straight tansitioning to a 4 1/2" taper to a point or is the plastic version just a 5 1/2" taper?

Sorry 'bout that...

1" transition, 4.75" taper. Note the longer length of the cone. This is measured from a PNC-50BB taken from a #2 Sky Writer kit...
