Default Estes Starship Enterprise - 1975 v 1992

What is the difference (if any) between the 1975 version and the 1992 version of the Estes Starship Enterprise models? I already know one comes in a plastic bag and the other comes in a box.

Are there different parts in one v the other? Is one more stable in flight v the other? Bonuses in one not in the other?

If you know the real good details that would be great! Thanks.

I believe that there were some special versions of the later boxed variety that had paint included with it.

I've got the paint included version. I don't have a bagged version for the comparison, though.

The earlier version had thick plywood parts. The later version came with thin plywood you have to laminate. Other than that everything else is the same from what I can see.

Thanks Buds. I appreciate the replies.

Something else I notice.

The 1975 catalog says the "Recovery Probe" is 25.9" long??? The 1992 catalog says the "Recovery Probe" is 30.4" long??? What is the Recovery Probe? And what is the four and a half inches difference all about?

??? ???

The recovery probe is a body tube used for 1: providing stable flights and 2: to house your parachute- hence the 'Recovery Probe'

The 4 1/2" difference is probably to provide great stability..The shorter version was probably just barely stable..Just a SWAG..

Thanks Jon.

If I built the older kit, should I extend the body tube of the "probe" part by 4 1/2 inches?

I have the older kit (one built, one still in the bag). The recovery probe is long enough; at least, in all the flights I've put up on mine it always flew perfectly.
