Default Hawks Hobby Super Bandit Finished

After two years of off-again/on-again effort, I have completed the Hawks Hobby Super Bandit kit I purchased at NARAM-49.

It turned out pretty well. The Super Bandit is a good sized MPR model, standing over 42" tall and 2.3" in diameter. The most challenging part of the kit is the painting/finishing.

I am aware that the orginal Estes Bandit kit had a matt/flat finish but I liked the glossy look after applying Future over the decals and decided to leave it.

Looking good.

I have this kit, purchased at NARAM 50.. still in the que.. I had opened it up and got discouraged by the decals not including the white

You did have to paint the white band above the fins, right ? then the decal.

also note the white 'experimental' lettering is missing, sadly - one huge reason I purchased the kit, versus just building a scratchbuilt upscale, was for the decals....

if I had to do over, would build one Semroc 2.34 or BT80 based and get Gordys decals. likely for less cost.

Not meaning to be critical of the kit - as the components are TOP notch, just the decals disappointed.

yours loosk great though - and glossy is good - my original sized clone is very glossy and very cool

Yes, the missing 'white' decals was a disappointment.

Several of the decals are 'red' in color when they should have been 'white'. I might have used the red decals but they did not have a white undercoat and would not have shown up on a black background. One decal was yellow and, like the red, needed a white undercoat to show up on a black background.

Yes, I had to paint the white band above the fins as the decal only had the black stripes.

I had this kit built pretty quickly but the problems with old Krylon/new Krylon incompatibility and several sessions of having to sand the paint off the model and try again caused me to put the model on the 'back burner'.

Now that it is finished, I really like it. I now remember why I bought it.
