I really like Aerogloss Sealer and will never give it up. I have tried thinned down Sig Sealer, and it does not fill or sand as easy. JMO.
I apply 3 coats of balsa sealer followed by 2 coats of Plastikote Filler primer. This always produces smooth fins.

The way I finish balsa parts:

3 coats of well-shaken and properly thinned and stirred Aerogloss Balsa fillercoat with sanding after coats 2 and 3. Coat 2 of the fillercoat is applied almost immediately after coat 1.

Wait at least 2 hours to one day.

Next is two coats of well-shaken and properly thinned and stirred Aerogloss/Sig/Brodak Sanding Sealer with sanding after each coat.

Wait a day.

Prime 2-coats with either Kilz if topcoat is to be enamel or with Pactra Prep or Automotive Lacquer if topcoat is to be color butyrate dope.

I never fill bodytube spirals unless for a scale build. WAYYYYYY too much of a pain in the butt.

Jeffyjeep, We have all seen your builds and they are excellent. I would stick to what has been working and not change a thing. I order my Aerogloss Balsa Sealer online in 6 packs.

I like the Aerogloss balsa and sanding sealers.

Fortunately there is a local hobby shack near me that stocks them both including the appropriate Aerogloss *thinner*.

Years back, I used the Aerogloss Sanding Sealer for years with good results. When I got back in the hobby I tried the Sig Sealer when I found it available in the pint cans. Even after thinning it was too hard to sand. I ended up throwing it out.
