Ha. When these first came out they were listed without pictures or much of a description. I threw them into my watch list thinking I might take a gamble on the US Airforce rocket hoping it might be a mint citation bomarc or something. They WERE coming from a museum and all. Sure glad he got around to posting the pictures.

Bidding?
Anyone planning on bidding on these rockets?
I would IF the bidding started at $9.95 or $9.99 |

It might be kind of fun rehabing something like this but when the minimum price is $24.99 and $8 to ship???

O.K. guys,
I bought it. I have bought other models for rehab in the past: a Maxi-V2 and a Maxi Honest John come to mind. The V-2 is coming out great; the Honest John went in the trash (I saved the nose). I don't mind rebuilding so the opportunity to pick up a 1/100 Saturn 1b for $25 when I could spend ten times that on an unbuilt kit seemed like a good gamble. So what did I get? The pundits were right -- its a Centuri 1b. The 24" and 16" Centuri parachutes were still rolled up inside and in good condition. The LM cover is caved in and needs replacing as is and does the service module; two thrusters are missing; The LES is missing. The BT-80 S-IVb is in good shape and complete but is badly yellowed. On the lower stage, one of the tubes is dented, one has rodent gnawings and of course, it's missing six fins and the lower launch lug. The lower plastic wrap is missing chunks here and there because of tramatic removal of the six fins. Interally the tube which transfers the gasses from the cluster to the parachute section is badly damaged and unwound and will need replacing. I have no idea what size tubing this is as it did not match up with anything in my building area. Is it rebuildable? Yes -- absolutely! I'm gonna need some new decals and some BT-52 plus some time. I have already carefully removed the BT-80 from the lower body and pried the capsule (and its lead weight) off. It will not be easy but unless something unforseen happens, this will fly again . . . but only after I finish building the R-7s for April. I may put a rebuild thread in the scale section.

That's actually a Centuri kit (note the two 18mm mounts, and the chrome wrap around the SM) {edit} yea, I need to read the whole thread before replying!
