Default Composite Dynamics revisited

This thread is my attempt to document and make available to YORF and it's members, all of the former Composite Dynamics (CD) kit instructions, fin pattern templates, and parts lists so that anyone interested in making clone / replicas of these OOP kits, will be able to do so.

Since I purchased all rights to the former Composite Dynamics kit line and nose cone technology back in the early 80's, I do have all of the original kit information to make available to YORF in the coming days.

For starters, here's a brief intro to the Composite Dynamics kit line:
Longstar 1.0” x 26.5” Weight 177 Grams D12-7, E20-7
Sonics 40 1.0” x 14.5” Weight 58 Grams D12-7, E20-10
Sonics 80 1.0” 17.5“ Weight 60 Grams F40-15 - Computer Designed for Super-Sonic flights
Trans-Rock 1 1.0” x 17.5” Weight 56 Grams D12-7, E20-10
Wasp – to be updated
Starfire 2.225” x 23.5” Weight 215 Grams F40-6

NOTES: all kits used
- 3/32” precut Basswood fins
- 24mm motors

Please feel free to post any comments either positive or negative about this OOP kit line.
I hope this generates some interest, and at the same time preserves a part of model rocketry history.

Thanks for sharing the info with us, Larry!

When I create the new sections on YORP for the plans you send me of the companies you own, I can add a disclaimer like this that I use for Quest and some of the other companies if you wish:

These plans are for Personal Use Only! Quest Aerospace, Inc. reserves all commercial use rights.

I've got a sealed kit. Aren't those resin cones cool?

Very cool cone.
I still have a couple Composite Dynamics E20-7's and an F40 in my OOP motor stash.
I actually flew an E20 three years ago and ignited it the same way I used to...with a SOLAR Igniter !
Motor performed nominally with a WORKING fairly accurate delay ! It was a vintage '83 motor.
Someone on this website a few years back tried convincing me that the 80n-sec F40 was 29mm...not so; it is definitely 24mm and is an impressive motor. Really made old K-36 Saturn V's go, but you better have built it STRONG.

ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

Yeah... I lent this one to Al Swackhammer a couple of years ago. I think he made a mold of the cone to try an duplicate a few. Wanna chime in here, Al?

I have several CD E20 motors and at least one F40 in my motor collection, which is in several ammo cans at the bottom of the ammo cans for the rest of my motors. I also have a couple of the resin nose cones and one of the BT-70 sized foam nose cones. I loaned the 1980 and 1981 catalogs that are on www.ninfinger.org

I would like to see the CD Pro-Jet MOTORS brought back more than the kits.
Very low-smoke full-impulse E and F motors in 24mm that were very similar to the old 29mm Enerjets.

Occasionally I agree with GH and this is one of those times.

I loved the old ProJet motors. I only wish I'd had more money at the time to buy them, and more land at the time to fly them on. As it was I still have a couple of E20s and a couple of F's that I wasn't able to fly back then.

There must still be a place for smokeless, completely progressive motors.

Wow !
Roy and I agree on something !
Those CD Pro-Jets were some of the most "fun" motors ever produced.
Very easy to ignite, too.

The E20 was great for most Estes Maxi-Brutes; with only a little more attention paid to build strength, one would get flights that were "Nice" on an E20 and "Spectacular" on an F40 if it could take it, yet LOUSY on a D12. To me, a Maxi-Brute or anything flying to 125' is never a thrill or even worth doing. It was cheaper to fly maxi-brutes on F100's but the reliability vs. cato with those did not have me wanting to use a F100 in any rocket back then as costly as any maxi-brute.
