Thumbs up $-Smoke

August 11 turned out to be a glorious day to launch sport rockets in Anchorage.

We had about 15 folks show up, and put 40+ rockets in the sky. It was a fun day, had some burgers, hot dogs and put rockets on the pads, in the air, and back on the ground.

A couple of two stage rockets were flown, a four engine cluster, some mid-power (E and F), unique recoveries with gliders and helicopter, as well as the many standard fare. Topped off with a drag race of two small Estes rockets launching on C6 engines - WHOOSH, and gone. One was recovered the next day!

Homemade BP motors?? Well, THAT'S a big no-no, if you're NAR that is... guess it's okay for TRA research days or whatever, but they have their own rules...

If you're NAR and do that, the insurance is not in effect...

Later! OL JR

Thumbs up September Launch

Who: Anyone, Everyone
What: Shoot your Low and Medium Power rockets (A, B, C, D, E, F, G)
When: Sunday, 9 September 2012 @ 1100
Where: South Anchorage Sports Park
Why: Because the August launch was great! [http://youtu.be/rJ8zbTpYm1w]

Let's do it again!

Build it, Design it, Load it, Launch it and/or Watch it.

Last time we shot rockets from 1100 until nearly 3 pm; so if you're a little behind - odds are we will still be there.

Come on out and shoot more rockets before the weather changes.

Default September Launch...

Again, we were spectacularly lucky on our recent launch. September 9th proved to have clear skies, calm winds and mild temperatures. Great day for launching some rockets.
This was probably the last low/mid power launch for the summer. Waiting for the lakes to freeze and break out the high power rockets for the winter - hope to see you there!
