That "long snoot"/Recruiter nose cone looks absolutely HIDEOUS on a Firefly, period !

I'm thinking that the top stage looks kinda Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon 1930ish.
I'll have to dig up an old still from the Buck/Flash series.

Nothing quite says ugly better than "Hideous", although "Ghastly" or "Horrendous" are good, colorful adjectives too !

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it - retro .
Sort of Disney Voyage to the Moon or similar 1950's .
