I was watching this one, and could not believe the ending price.

is it me, or is 78 bucks a little much for an opened, incomplete , and yellowed decal sheet Shrike ?
I also do not see the embossed wraps ( and wrote the seller about them with no reply ) .

without the wraps, this is super-easily cloned, so if they're missing.....

crazy world ....

My Centuri UFO Invader went about as much (unopened, originally sealed package) on the
ROL last year...

that sounds like a good price for a Super Kit, especially sealed.

I sold a batch of unopened Centuri stuff myself about 4 years back ( all I had left from my collection, most went in the early 90's ) , and I could not believe the prices - 70.00 for a Nomad, don't recall the rest, but a lot in that range ( 50-100 each ).
Centuri seem to bring more $, possibly 'rarer' ?

however, that Shrike was not only open, but incomplete, so why is it 'worth' 78.00 ??

just wondered what ppl thought, or is the Shrike actually that rare ? they turn up from time to time, there was a builtup one a few weeks back .

just curious,

You're right about the Shrike; I could easily clone one myself (provided I have the instructions describing the parts needed). I can remember when the kit was first announced
(1970?), a flyer came in the mail along with one of the many mail orders I got, and I thought
the Astron Shrike looked really cool back then. But my taste then (as is now) belongs to
building/flying scale models...

Yeah, but if you look closely there's old Astron Phantom in the mix, too.

The Shrike is not worth even that when unopened....I paid less than $50.00 THIS YEAR for an unopened, pristine Astron Shrike on Ebay. Now it did not include the early Phantom, but that thing in this auction is ASSEMBLED, therefore virtually WORTHLESS.

The Ebay auction states, "1960's ESTES Astron Shrike Rocket, The kit has been opened and appears to be missing the main tube and has an extra smaller tube. Everything else seems to be there, plus it has a few other items from another kit."

Basically it's the Payload bay, instructions, decals and one motor mount.

Harly a "Shrike kit".

I'd give hime $10 for it...that's all.

But I already have one. :D
