Hi Gang,

Excelsior Rocketry has a sneak peek of our new 'Pre D' decal line listed on the website.

Excelsior Rocketry's Pre D line of 'golden age' decals allow the model rocketeer to build reproductions of model rockets pictured in the pages of early catalogs.

Please stop by

http://www.excelsiorrocketry.com

and click on the 'Pre D model rocket decals' link at he top of the page.

The decals will be available as soon as we can get a few prototype photos finished.
Pictured below is the Astron Xray as seen in the 1966-1970 catalogs.

Right now, we have 6 sets of decals available, and are looking to add more. I am actively seeking suggestions and comments from YORF members about what decals to add to this line. They can be from any company, but the idea is to create decals that are

1) Pictured in a pre-1970 catalog, and
2) Were not available with the kit.

Thanks for your time and all of your support!!

Heh, it took me a second. I had to sit there and think, "Pre D, what the heck is he talking about?" I then saw the picture and it became clear. ;) Good job, Phred!

Thanks Scott,

Some of the older catalog designs are pretty lame (The Avenger comes to mind), but other are really pretty cool. I am thinking of doing the Drifter's Checkets and stripes, but I am not sold on it yet. Does any one have any requests? I am especially keen on hearing from you Centuri guys out there as I do not know what came with decals and what did not. My rocket building youth was completely dominated by the 'Big E'

Phred,
These are awesome! I was also an Estes guy back in the day. I will have to pour over the Ninfinger site to get ideas.

Here is my favorite scheme for the Sprite. I am tempted to try painting it freehand. I suppose those complex curves would make decals impossible? Actually, I don't think this scheme appeared in a catalog; I got it from JimZ's site.

Hmmm.. yeah... you hit the head on that one... Unfortunately, my decals will not make these typs of curves.... but keep the ideas coming!!

Tonight I re-painted my old Big Bertha that I had as a kid, and will finish it with the new 'Pre D' decal set.
