Thanks,

Those kits appear on Ebay from time to time and they always seem to command a big price.

Yes I know. I've been able to get some kits for about $75, which is about what I want to pay. I'm will to buy multiple kits. Some of them have been going for $200, which is too rich for my blood. I'm not looking to resell, just add to my collection. The filling adapter would be nice, but I've never seen one on eBay.

Not sure if this is what you were talking about regarding the filling adapter, but I was on ebay this evening, saw this and remembered the thread: http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-ESTES-VASHON-PROPELLANT-LOADING-VALVE-MIP_W0QQitemZ250082966394QQihZ015QQcategoryZ2567QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250082966394

No, this is the Vashon filling value. These I could find. the Estes' ones were a little different. Thanks for looking, though. The hunt continues.

NP - trolling ebay from time to time is a part time hobby of mine. My wife doesn't mind as long as I keep on trolling. It's only when I buy that I get myself in trouble.

I think Keith is looking for the part on the left:

Leo,

Yep, right on the nose. I have a couple as part of sealed kits, but would like one to fly an open, but as to date unfinished, Marauder Kit.

Good luck Keith,

The Marauder is a beautiful model rocket :)

Leo,

You've got skills, no doubt. Even when I try hard, my display rockets don't look that nice, let alone my working rockets. Keep me in mind when you plan to sell off your fleet an start collecting spoons or seashells.

That is a beautiful looking rocket Leo!

From the look of things the ejection for the cold power rockets is by spring, but how does it trigger and how high do the rockets generally go?

I still have the picture card from an Estes Skydart I built back in the 70's, and on the back of the card there is an advertisement for three Coldpower Convertibles kits with pics of each.

The advertisement says;

NEW! Coldpower Convertibles
Each kit is completely convertible. Launch 'em with the new Estes up-rated cold propellant engine or convert to standard Estes solid propellant model rocket engines.

The three kits listed/pictured are: Marauder # 1110, Shark # 1111 and Yankee 5 #1112

Thanks.

On the Estes engines you have a separate compartment on the top end with 3 holes where rubber sticks out due to pressurization when the engine is fueled. A spring/tube is placed over the compartment and when the fuel depletes the pressure reduces. After a few seconds the tube lets go and employes the parachute.

Here (http://www.dph.com/vidroc/Vashon/) is a site with some good information and videos.

The cold power kits you are referring to can be seen here (http://www.leo.nutz.de/Rockets.php?Rockets=Estes/Vashon%20Industries).

And with a little patience we will get a treat in the upcoming Launch magazine.

Great info thanks!

That second video, the v2 full speed, really shows that the cold power rockets can get up and go.

Also I really like the Yankee 5 1112 on your site. That is a good looking rocket. Of course all of the rockets on the site are good looking rockets. :)

Thanks agin for taking the time to post the links. I really enjoyed learning more about the cold power rockets. For some reason when I was a kid I just never got into them. I stuck to the regular Estes kits.... Cool stuff!
