I have been so busy these past several weeks dealing with a flood, sending my son to Japan to teach, and a slew of other things that I have not been able to keep up with all of the forums. For that I apologize!

I wanted to make sure folks knew of the new HERC-5 just released by FlisKits as our 5th anniversary commemorative kit. Yep, it's been 5 years folks! :)

Proud as can be too :)

We had a wonderful celebratory launch on September 16th with cake and giveaways with CMASS in Amesbury, MA. It was a wonderful day of friends and flying, that's for sure!

You can find out more about the futuristic HERC-5 by clicking this link! (http://www.fliskits.com/products/rocketkits/kit_detail/herc5.htm)

OK that's just a very cool rocket! I'm going to have to get one.

It never ceases to amaze me how Fliskits is able to sell such cool rockets at some of the best prices to be found!

Thank you folks :)

While I realize this is "Ye Olde Rocket Forum", I know you folks don't just like the old designs, as important and cool as they are.

We are working (and have been for years) in bringing out cool kits that have the *feel* of the cool designs of old. In that respect I think we are doing well. We have received many comments along the lines of "this reminds me of the kits I used to get as a kid. Same type of creativity and quality in a new design"

Keep watch too, we've got some more fun stuff coming before the end of the year and into next! :)

Well Jim!

Are you going to bring the Herc to Rochester, MN for Narcon 2008???

I guess it is coming back to Rochester again.

I started mine last weekend and cutting the two BT-70's wasn't that hard to do but...before I start gluing it together... I have been scratching my head over how to paint this litle devil to match the kit cover.

It looks like the blue/red color scheme of the inside of those tubes will require some masking even before I glue it together.

I'll figure it out.

Ok,

I have a small dilema. I have a Herc 5 kit in the build queue (just not sure when).

I don't collect kits so I don't care if I get a numbered one or not, but I know a lot of people do care. That said, I happened to notice that I have kit #4 and I haven't opened it yet.

So I was wondering. Do I bring it to the next launch and trade it back to Jim Flis for a regular unnumbered one and let him send it out at random? Or perhaps, I should bring it to NEMROC and trade it for an unnumbered one there?

The point is that I will open it and build it eventually so it doesn't matter to me if it's just a "regular" kit or a "numbered" kit.

Sorry it's been so long since i've been around. I have been so busy lately it is unbelievable!

The HERC-5 is proving to be a very popular kit. Mine got trashed at a recent Boy Scout Jamboree, but is repairable (hoping in time for NEMROC this weekend!)

Thank you all for your support!

Son going to Japan to teach, eh JimFlis?? WIll he be teaching English like this guy? (http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=153) Is this this (http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=149) how he got the job? Or maybe this? (http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=151) ;)

And he better be careful what he buys at the shopping district. He may come home with something like this. (http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=124)

He'd also better be careful of the young students he will be teaching. After all, they read this kind of stuff. (http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=44) (especially the third panel  :D )

If you couldn't guess, I have a favorite webcomic that I read faithfully.

LOL wild!

Interesting aspect to his teaching in Japan... ...After 6 weeks of teaching, and failing to get his first paycheck, the company that hired him filed bankruptcy...

So he and his girl friend (both English teachers) are stranded in Japan, no job, no money and a work visa that only allows them to teach English for a job...

Tough kids though. They're staying an extra 2 weeks to find other English teaching positions before they pack it in.

Quite the adventure!
