My son and I launched a handful of rockets this afternoon. All but one were first flights. My photos weren't very good today. It was later in the afternoon and very hazy and humid. On top of that, I forgot to make a couple of setting changes. However, any pic is better than no pic at all. :)

We started with the Quest Tomahawk. It flew surprisingly well, and much higher than I expected on the B6-4.

Next was the Aiptek camera rocket, still naked. This is the replacement booster, as the Stormcaster booster is still in a tree. It flew on two B6-4's for a nominal flight, but I screwed up the video. This thing flies well, so I might end up finishing it someday. This was the only non-first flight.

Third was my son's first scratch built clone. I made the nosecone and decals for him and he did the rest. He built it with an 18mm mount and the first flight today was on an A8-3.

Next was my 1:1 scale DRM clone that I built a couple of years ago. I figured I needed to fly it along with my 1.6x upscale. I made it with a PNC-60AH cone from a Screamin Mimi and I made all the decals using a combination of white and clear decal material.

Last was my 1.6x upscale (BT-80). It's been sitting unfinished for a couple years. I finally finished it this fall, and had to wait a few weeks to get some C11-3's for it's first flight. I didn't want it to drift away on a D12-5. It sports a nosecone that I turned, 1/4" balsa fins to look scale, a single 24mm mount, and Excelsior decals. The C11-3 gave it a perfect flight at an altitude that looked a little higher than the average Saturn V flight on a D12-3...maybe 200-225 ft.

Very nice pictures! Very nice indeed! I think the ones I like the best are the pictures of the chute deploying on your sons Goblin! Awesome shots! Can even see the 2 balls of wadding coming down..Spectacular!:D

Great shots and some good looking birds also! Have to agree about the Goblin photo at ejection, that is top notch.

What kind of camera and what settings where you at when you shot them? Do you follow the rocket as best you can while shooting photoes or are they blown up from non-zoomed shots?

I like the new Stormcaster booster. Reminds me a little of the old FSI Echo 1 rocket. Are those upscaled Goblin fins on the new booster?

Nice flight pics!

Those are Screamin Mimi fins that weren't used on my Citation Patriot clone. :)

It's kinda like the infantry.....spray and pray. I'm bound to hit something if I shoot enough. ;)
