My oldest son and two of my grandkids came to visit from Chicago and the 11 yr old brought his first rocket he built. (A Rubicon with a really interesting paint job, Fluorescent Orange and Black);)
The weather was not co-operating with a lot on thunderstorms but we found a launch window and launched two of them. The second was a Semroc Squire I had so the 7yr old would not be dis-appointed. He signed it to make it "His" and he was happy.:)
Both of rockets flew great and we had a ball. I really surprised myself when they all came back fairly close to the pad after all these years. I fully expected to have to chase them, but it went very well.:D
I had a saucer and a V-2 to run up there on re-loads but the window wasn't long enough to build the motors and launch them also
It was the first time either of them had done it and for me it was my first launch in about 35 Yrs. when their father and I did them. Made my day.!!!

Excuse the video quality but all we had was my Canon Point and Shoot camera and we used the video option on it for the flights.

The first video is the "Squire" on a A8-3 to get our feel for the field and wind. Grandma got so excited she forgot she had the camera.:rotflol:

The next with our confidence coming back was the "Squire" again but this time on a C6-5. Glad the wind wasn't any stronger because she really got up there.

The last flight before the rain came again was my grandson's "Rubicon". It went up on a D12-3.
It kicked into the wind a bit but recovered to avoid the water filled ditch about a 100yds away which is why Grandma kept saying "Oh No,, Oh No"
The deployment part of the video didn't take but the chute came out just after apogee.
The chute was a little singed almost making a perfect spill hole but she landed with no damage as did the other two flights.
