Hi guys,
Do you have any extra Estes Alpha type balsa nose cones lying around? I think it is called BNC-50K. I'd like to buy a couple of them if anyone wants to sell.
Also, I'm looking for the longer pointed ogive BNC-50Y.
Thanks!
Nathan

Semroc has them in stock. :)
BTW, here's a photo of the pointy balsa cone on the left, an Estes plastic version in the center, and a BMS round tipped one on the right. Semroc sells both the pointed tip and rounded tip versions.

You should be able to find exact duplicates of balsa nose cones from BMS and SEMROC; the
chances of finding an Estes version from an old Astron Alpha kit is very slim (the current Estes Alpha uses a plastic nose cone). I have (still in the bag) an original Astron Alpha in
my collection, but will not give anything for it..... :)

SEMROC and BMS both carry a line of balsa cones that match the Estes profiles...

I've ordered from both, and I've noticed slight shape variations between the BNC-50Y. SEMROC cuts theirs with a CNC lathe/mill, so the cones all come out virtually identical. I'm not sure if BMS uses CNC, but their cones are still great and usable even if he doesn't use CNC.

Thanks! I didn't know about Semroc. I have gotten parts from BMS in the past but had some problems such as items not being to spec. It looks like they're going to fix it though.

I've done business with both BMS and SEMROC and they both have great products and AWESOME customer service. :D
