Should Estes do a 0.93" x 3.74" D20?

I have suggested an under 30g USPS shippable D with more of a core to allow heavier rockets to fly safely, to better boost two stage rockets and for big dumb rockets in small fields.

I have seen prototypes fly already so they are produceable on a moderate scale for sure.

A D12 has about 21g propellant and 16.2 N-s rated total impulse.
The proposed D20 would have 19.9 N-s rated total impulse, thus about 25.8g propellant.
This introduces the posssibility of a 29.9g and 23 N-s baby E18.

The advantage of USPS shippable NA-0323 Toy Propellant Device under 30g propelling charge mass is very significant.

The advantage of higher average thrust is very significant for larger model rockets, moderately windy conditions, and smaller fields.

It would likely have a thrust curve more similar to an A10 than a B14.

Discuss.

Definitely. Now that Semroc has purchased Estes, we may actually see it.

Well, duh! That would be nice.

It would be nice if Semroc really did buy Estes, but I doubt Carl has that kind of capital. :(
