Hi, guys,

Can anyone tell me who made these parachutes and parachute material? They came in an eBay lot of 'chutes that include some Estes checkerboards that I wanted. Thanks.

Mike,

The parachute kits with the instructions are CMR - Competition Model Rockets, Howard Kuhn's old company. I have a couple of those kits unopened.
The packaged parachute material is a bit harder to identify. North Coast Rocketry sold red parachute material in a similar, unmarked package (pre-Estes days).
Don't have a good clue on the clear material. There were many small companies that came and went back in the late 70's - early 80's. Aeronautics and Space Company comes to mind. Their 1976 catalog is on the ninfinger.org site and he did offer thin clear parachute material. That was my catalog that Sven scanned.

Hope this helps,
Chas

I don't think that the red material is the red plastic NCR sold, as we never stapled bags shut, always heat sealed. The other chutes are from CMR. The red may have been from one of Taras Tataryn's Canadian companies.
