View Full Version : How do you build this in RockSim?

I built this rocket, and it flies ok (except the recovery-the chutes are too small) but I haven't been able to get anything close to it in RockSim9
Any one want to take a stab at it?
6.5 inch diameter
29mm Tubes 43.5 inches long.
(Hmm hope the pictures show up. NEWBIE alert)

Doesn't look too difficult, but to get it right I think we need some additional measurements of those components...

Do those tubes go completely through the hubs?

Attached below is a rough draft, to show how it's done. The dimensions may not be accurate to your prototype, but it's probably not too far off. It's all in the use of pods...

(Que the creepy music, and references to "Invasion of the Pod People"...) :D

With 4 F50-T9 engines, I show a performance of 3000' and a Dv of 62 FPS. Perhaps a tad high for HPR, but someone with HPR experience can tell me otherwise...

WOW!! :)
I thought I knew a bit about programming...I was trying to do a cluster, but it won't put nosecones on the motor tubes "inside" the rocket.
The tubes go through the "spools" witch are 3 inches long.
The top thing is 7 inches long * 3 inches diameter.
I'm trying to attach files with the fin and nosecone.
I am only using 2 tubes for motors, the picture is with H95 Skidmarks, but had basically total failure of recover system. All fins busted, fin attachment tubes busted, top spool split. The solid hardwood nosecones did ok.
Now I'm getting irritated and I'm gonna make it work.

Thanks for the help.
I tweaked it a bit, this is about as close as I can get to the actual dimentions. Look at the [more] discription info on the Rocksim file.
The 2 big spools have the 4 radial holes in them, the fins are held on by a slotted 29mm body tube (Blu Tube) The upper radial holes are lined with body tube, because I didn't have a good drill bit so the balsa tore.
Any Ideas on how to get these holes in? or just call it a decal?
I tried a pod, but couldn't get the dimentions right, or a tube to be spun 90 degrees.

RockSim won't allow tubes at right-angles to the centerline, so you'd have to simulate that with square blocks. Same with those 'holes' in the rim of the big hubs. A decal would be an easier simulation, just to make it look good.
