Those look like Cherokee-D fins!

I never understood the reason for payload sections that were smaller than the main body.

I was thinking the same thing about the fins as soon as I saw them !
NO other kit uses fins of that shape until now.
I like the new Magician.
May have to pikk one up.

The Mini-Max they can KEEP.
The only kit that should be named mini-max should take at LEAST 29mm motors like the old Centuri Mini-Max kits.

I figure Estes isn't going to make everyone happy, but they are on the right track. I for one don't really need any of the new kits since my collection is too big already. But I do want to support Estes and what they are trying to do so that's why I am buying them. I think these bring backs will be the real test to see if new rocketeers join the hobby.

Has anyone compared the fins tot he Cherokee D and found out how close they actually are ?

side note - never did hear of anyone checking the Taser Twin fins either, to see just how close.

I was curious about the Magician fins. I went to JimZ's site and looked at the Cherokee D fin scan.
If they aren't the same, they are real close!

The more I look at that "cradle", the more it looks like a Fin Alignment Guide. It's too short to be a cradle...

The fins are in fact a close replica of the Cherokee D kit. The other parts mentioned are in fact a fin aliqnment jig.

i like the kits from estes. they are finally hitting our palms , hope they keep pumping them out. buy them now throw them on your build pile for latter as spring hits build away :) the quest kits are killer. i am very happy to see them also. :)

I spotted the Magician at the LHS but for some reason I just bought another CC Express. Had this idea of converting it to an 18" long Cherokee D.

Oh well, back to the LHS for the Magician. My frequent buyers card is only a few bucks short of the $25 store credit.
