WOOSH members Chad Rogers, Paul Smith, Jerome Bartosch, Ron White, Carol Lee Saffioti Hughes, and Scott Goebel put on a model rocketry demonstration and model rocket build and fly at the Kenosha Museum on February 19th.

We had a nice display of rockets, video's played on a TV, and Ron built a display board illustrating the sizes and power level motors available.

Thanks to Art Applewhite we had cardstock flying saucers for kids to build and fly.
WOOSH purchased 100, A10-pt motors and Rex donated a couple packs for the effort as well.
The launch was scheduled to take place at 4pm. The building began much earlier in the day. Around Noon. As the day progressed more of the kids built rockets. Those who couldn't stick around until 4pm. were encouraged to take along a schedule of our upcoming events so they could join us later to fly their creations.

The 4pm. celebration plan was to shoot off a civil war replica mortor, then a volley of our rockets, followed by a fireworks show. The mortor's first shot was a bit weak but all eight of the saucers on our rack flew sucessfully. The fireworks guys were a bit late so we kept flying rockets. The mortor was reloaded and gave off a mighty roar scareing the crowd nicely.
We continued flying rockets until everyone had endured enough of the frigid breeze off lake Michigan. The fireworks were lit off and the show was complete.

Many thanks to all our volunteers and the Museum staff who allowed us to be a part of their celebration.
