Just finished my Centuri Starfire clone, using Semroc parts. Here's a pic:

Had a bit of a problem masking the fin/boattail seams, but finally got it to look OK. Decals were printed on Testor's clear decal paper.

Now to finish my Nomad (just need to apply the decals and chrome strips) :p

I had a similar problem when I rebuilt my Estes Calypso (BT-50 version of the Starfire...). The best tape I've found so far (and not to imply that it is the best) is 3M's blue Painter's Tape. Good tack, not too much, not too little; seems to work better than the Duck brand version which looks just like it.

Great looking model!

Here's the Nomad - Parts from Semroc, decals by Tango Papa. Fins and strakes are paper laminated balsa... I still have to buy some chrome foil or Mylar to create the two bands that go around the middile of the rocket.

This was a fun build! :D

Here's the finished Nomad, posing for its "official fleet" shot. It flew nicely on a B6-4 last weekend at Southern Thunder.

I used to keep my Nomad displayed on a wooden rack that simulated a navy ship's double launch rails. It somehow got thrown out when I left home, but the Nomad is still in good shape.

I also built a Starfire from Semroc parts. I'm going for a variant of the '71 catalog paint-job, which is going to be a real she-doggy involving vertical black and yellow stripes.

No decals at all; I'm going to wet-sand, compound, and wax the model until it so shiny and slick that you'll need special gloves to handle it.

Wow, I cannot believe I am "resurrecting" an old thread...

I used to have a Nomad as part of my original 70's fleet. It was on display on a simulated double launch display also. Right now I am in the process of cloning the Nomad to bring back my original fleet

You and Bill make me drool over this one.

Here I go to find some 1/16" balsa to cut the fins and vanes out to cover with label paper.

Now to see if Tango Papa still has some Centuri Nomad decals...

Cheers,
