Looks like DLR just committed career suicide.

Viewer beware, almost obscene attempt by an aging rocker to jump start his flagging career. Could be harmful to old memories.

Truly sad, almost shameful.

In Dave's defense, that's the most "on-key" I've ever heard him while singing live, not that he was all that good in that clip...just better than usual. I've seen him in concert a few times and he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

Have to agree with you. I really had to look to determine that it really was DLR singing.
And if it had just been a Bluegrass band covering the song, it wouldn't have been bad at all - they're all good players. It's just the fact that it WAS David that made it all a little surreal.

Van Halen wasn't about tune. Van Halen was about a party. I thought he did a great job getting that across, but that was a long time ago. :(

Yep, might as well jump..... without a 'chute. I saw DLR, but I heard the fat lady singing. :(

It would've been pretty cool if he'd tried to sing it in a bluegrass style (one of my favorite records of the 60's was a bluegrass album of Beatles covers). As for as his "singing," I seem to remember Eddie VH saying something like the following when they hired Sammy Hagar: "We wanted a singer, not a screamer."

The thing that most bothers me is he looks so much like Jim Bakker!
