I'm diverting this thread from my "Tau Zero A-C Launch" thread to here.

Carl McLawhorn posted the following information about Semroc Screw Eyes (Regular, Large, and Extra-Large) (http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/showpost.php?p=9777&postcount=19), which I found *exceptionally* helpful.

Now, Carl, I see you have the Washer Weight #7 (WL-7) (http://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=628) listed on your website. I peeked at my official NARCON 2006 Semroc X-21 (God bless you, Scott Goebel!), and noticed it had 3 Washer Weights (WW-7A), which appear to be smaller (in diameter) than the 11/16" x .06" WL-7 washer weights.

So here's my burning question: How big is the center hole in the WL-7 weights, and will the SE-14 screw eye fit into it?

(Dear God, I can just *imagine* the comments that last line could generate.)

Thanks, and cheers,

Jay,

The SE-14 screw eye will fit into our WL-7 weights. If I measured it right the hole measures .253". If I'm not right with the numbers, I did test fit it and it works.

Over on this thread about Estes NCW-1 nose weights (http://www.oldrocketforum.com/showthread.php?t=2509), PaulK wrote:

For part of my semroc christmas deal, I ordered a few packs of their WL-7. They will end up working fine, though they need work. They are a hair larger in diameter, so won't fit inside a BT-20 or ST-7. Many of them have a chunks hanging off the side too. After some trimming with scissors & filing them down, they weigh in at ~4.5g each, or ~4.2g after a 1/8" hole is drilled in. They are going to be handy for min diameter stuff & pop pods, I only need two of them where I would have needed 6 steel washers.Carl,

Are the WL7's that you've been selling recently larger (in diameter) than the ones I bought last year?

(Inquiring minds want to know.*)

And I don't blame Bruce for not wanting to mess with the lead. What, with him still being able to replicate, and all. :o

PaulK may be correct Jay. I have some WL-7 in front of me and the WL may stand for Wieght Lead. It is rough cut lead, no hole in the middle and wieghs about 0.18 oz.

I believe you are thinkin of WW-7A which are actual washer wieghts with a hole in the middle and wieghs about 0.06 oz. each according to my chinese digital pocket scale :D . Carl has the WW-7A listed at a wieght of 0.12 oz which might just be the wieght of two WW-7A's and Carl has told me that a maximum of two WW-7A's are used on an SE-10 or 12. The WW-7A will easily fit into an ST-7 as well.

There is also an WW-8 which is a larger washer wieght and wieghs about 0.19 oz. and has a larger hole in the middle about 7/16 of an inch. An SE-12 or larger must be used on this WW-8 and it will only fit into an ST-8 tube or larger.

And lets not forget the WW-5 which can be used in an ST-5 and wieghs about 0.02 oz.

I have checked this pocket scale using the coin test and it reasonable accurate.
