Yep, with a piece of scrap tubing, a hand carved nose cone and fins made from a balsa assortment from KayBee. Flew about like you'd expect. Went big, too. C6-5 flight from the street in front of our house. Pretty sure it was around the same time we set up a couple hundred feet of Hot Wheel track and strapping a mini motor to the top of a Hot Wheel. Same flight path as the X-15.

The Mole, a member here, has been working on one, I believe.

Steve Neill, aka SubPirate, sells a nice kit that he engineered. He has the delta-wing version, also. Both are for sale on his site.

Did I hear my name called out? I am working on a couple of X-15s. I have just started the work on these two Paul Clarks X-15 kits. At the moment I'm scanning all patterns and instructions. I have been working with my 3D printer to make parts. At this point everything is prototypes. There's a lot of work to upgrade these kits. New paper material for parts, foam board, and drawing new X-15 markings.

I bought these kits when they first came out. You can see on the boxes it was 16 years ago in 2003. The instruction leaves a lot to be desired. The photo with the 3D printed parts taped to the BT-80 tube have to be cut down and hollowed out for good fits. At this point, I'm just looking to see how the parts look. So far so good.

This one is not worth the struggle.

Look for a Quest X-15 on Ebay. Looks good, flies well, has decals. Some of the boutique companies make versions in various sizes.

I have not started either of mine yet. Can't wait to see how yours come along. These kits are not for the faint of heart!
Thanks for answering!

I kit an X-15 Delta R/C rocket glider as well as I did a short run of 20+4" tubing based BT-101 X-15 R/C rocket glider kits as well.
