LOC Saturn V

Somehow i missed this while doing my weekly skim of rocketry forum threads:

Perhaps others have missed as well,

The LOC kit may be sport scale but it appears to be easier to build, bigger and accept all these very high power motor options. It serves a different purpose than the other Saturns out there.

Some guys just want a big Saturn V so they can put up a gigantic Saturn V with a gigantic motor (or cluster of motors) for the 50th anniversary. Many HPR flyers couldn’t care less about scale details like body wraps, ullage motors, conduits, detailed escape towers. Who cares if it has minimal detailing? Lots of people! It’s not for everyone.

I applaud LOC for creating it. More choices is always better than less choices. And I’ll bet a few of those LOC Saturns actually get some custom detailing to make them more scale-like.

For the huge $$ price, it should have the detail of the other big ones.
Sirius/Apogee/Polecat.

At any price level that escape tower is unacceptable.

GH you miss the point. In this case less is more on detail, and more is more on power (whack the gas). You cannot see those details from the distance most photos are taken anyway. We used to have a set of "beater" Saturn V's for demos we did at schools, retail stores, football games, fairs. The pretty one was on the display table.

We flew a Saturn V at EVERY launch. I think we hoarded the entire west coast supply on a couple of occasions.

I just order one for myself as a backup. It's pretty much the same size as the (OOP) Sheri's Hot Rocket Saturn V which I fly regularly on a J275W and it's always very popular (and will probably fly on July 20 for the anniversary). Since I fly the SHR Saturn regularly, eventually something bad will happen to it and it's nice to know I have something to replace it with. As for details, you can add whatever level of detail you want.
Last month I flew a Skunkworks/Polecat Saturn V for my L3 cert (M1297W, 9 ft. tall, 10 inch diameter, 43 lbs. at liftoff, 4215 ft. altitude). I spent way more time adding details to the Saturn than I did on major assembly - including individually ~800 half round dowels to simulate the stringers and such. I didn't bother with the tower, primarly because there is nearly 10 lbs. of nose ballast and I figured it would never survive the landing.
It just depends on what you want to do.

It would be interesting to know how many they sell by say January 1, 2020.
