DRAGON V-2 Plastic Kit On eBay Can Be Converted To Launch

Not my kit, but I just noticed this on eBay. A super-detailed kit showing rivets, panel lines, etc. and can be converted for flight. As I recall this builds up to about 16" long, and is large enough to accomodate 24mm engines. The seller is including conversion instructions.

I have several of these DML/Dragon V-2 kits. I have not built them yet. The detail is excellent. I bought them specifically for flight conversion. I don’t think it would be a difficult conversion.

I’ve also been eyeing the SpaceMonkey kit for conversion. I also have a couple Estes Maxi V-2 kits. I ran across a 3rd and let James Duffy (Mr. SpaceMonkey) know. He has a great thread on TRF on building the Maxi, including toughening the vacuform fins. I’m out of town, but have the link to the article on my iPad, and can post later, if anyone is interested.

I need to get better at transitioning from collector to builder. :)

Yeah, Lee, if you can post a link to that article, I'm definitely interested.

The Dragon kit is cheap and easy to convert. Flies very well on a D12-3.

The Spacemonkey model is the most accurately detailed V2 kit ever made.
The molds were created by James Duffy of Rocket Aero for competition in Scale World Spacemodeling competition. Again, very easy to convert with the Apogee kit. The model is an absolute steal at $30.

Joe, sorry for the delay. Here is the link to the excellent build thread for the Maxi V-2. I am going to use the same fin strengthening technique for my Honest John first. I just need to see if I can find some decent 1/32” balsa.
