Looking for Transroc & Manuals Info (Base Kit & Microphone)
 

As an exercise, I'm looking to throw together a Transroc recreation. Unfortunately I can't find my original Transroc -- not sure if it was thrown out over the past quarter century or just lost in the house somewhere. I do, however, have my original manual.

At this time, I'm missing two things:

1) The value of R6. The manual says "selected", and although it's called out that the value is part of the R6/Q4/D2 matched set, a starting point would be greatly appreciated if possible. If someone has an actual Transroc and could look at the color bands for R6, that would be great.

2) The part number of Q2. This is the microphone amp transistor. The base manual doesn't list the number, and I don't have the microphone accessory kit manual. At one point I had annotated my manual with the microphone kit part values, but what I wrote down (HEP G6017) equates to a big hunkin' power transistor in a TO-3 case, so it's obviously not correct what I wrote. Does anyone happen to have a PDF of the Microphone Accessory kit manual for the Transroc (or at least the parts list and schematic)?

Would pictures help? I only have the basic Transroc, and am not sure where my manuals are, so I'm not sure which resistor you're looking for...didn't realize how dusty this was until the closeups!

Just to clarify — because it may not be obvious at first glance — that listing is JUST for the microphone accessory; it is not for the entire Transroc, despite the heavy price tag. I remember another Transroc accessory that did sell on eBay several years ago, and I believe it went for something like $300. So, those accessories are pretty pricey when they do come up.

Pricey because very few ever existed.
I knew a guy in the late 80's/early 90's that had the complete Transroc setup with all accessories that wanted $1000 then. He eventually got it too.

I have contacted a "real guru", from back in the day . . . I hope that he will post here !

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. I did see the Microphone kit on ebay. It's a bit steep considering I can't find my own Transroc.

My quest for other parts is going well. I'm (hopefully) getting the iron cores as samples from Micrometals, and ebay had a bunch of the (mostly) obsolete 2N6027 PUTs (Digikey can get them though, if I want 2,500 of them!).

So Brown Green Yellow = 150K? I checked w/ an ohm meter and got 148.5K My old eyes couldn't decide if that was baby blue or green. my photo makes it look more greenish :D

The old brain cells may be failing me, but I could swear Dane Boles showed up to a Southwestern Model Rocket Conference in New Mexico with a special Transroc that was setup so the modules just plugged and unplugged to change out, rather than soldering/desoldering the components. Like the Foxmitters in Model Rocketry Mag.

I wish Estes had gone that route. I had a tough time getting mine soldered without bridging the lands...in fact I think I had to send mine in to have them troubleshoot it. After that I was leary of having to mess with it anymore!!
