Obamacare Defeated! Obamacare Defeated!

Reports are coming in that the Justices have indeed repealed Obamacare in a 5-4 decision!

Has anyone else received these reports in e-mail or can confirm via news or radio?!

I am busy looking at various cites and looking at other sources.

The vote was made in private this afternoon, and won't be officially released until all the briefs and paperwork has been filed by the staffers and clerks.

I will post more as I get it.

What a day ... we may have dodged a socialist-marxist-fascist bullet today if the early reports are true! Thank God almighty!

I think that may be a little premature. Even if a vote were concluded it is doubtful that any information regardig the decision would be allowed to leak. Possibly the worst decision someone clerking at the Court could make would be to text a buddy at The Post about a decision. Supreme Court decisions are published.

If the Senate is the saucer in which legislation cools, the Supreme Court is the icebox into which decisions are left to remain fresh for months.

The Justices would have taken a preliminary vote today, it's non-binding. One will be assigned to write the majority opinion. Nothing is set in stone until the ruling is published.

Correctamundo. There have been cases in which a justice changed his mind while they were writing their opinions.

It ain't soup until it is published.

I read that they had a vote, but it is non-binding and a majority opinion will be written. The Justices will be free to change their mind, especially after reading the other opinions.

So, as they say...it ain't over until the fat lady sings

What I don't understand is why, when the exact same plan (including the mandate) was proposed by the Republicans during the Clinton administration, it was a great idea. When the same plan was brought forth by Dems and Obama, it was suddenly a horrible idea. So, bottom line, if anything is pitched by Obama and the Dems in congress, the Republicans have to be against it out of a matter of principle. And people wonder why I am disgusted with the party that I have been a lifelong member of. But the ultra-conservatives and the neo-cons are determined to drive me and other moderates like me to the other party. Oh, and just for the record, I think the term "Rino" is one of the most disgusting things ever conceived.

So if the Obama "mandate" gets struck down republicans will be happy that we are the still the only civilized county where an innocent pedestrian can get hit by a hit-and-run driver and go bankrupt from the medical bills.

That's a really good plan!

Send me your poor huddled masses and our wealthy will take whatever they have left in their pockets!

While it is likely this will be true, it's not set yet. June 30, 2012. Go away. I am betting on 6-3.

Entitlement, entitlement, entitlement.

The world owes me.

I deserve it.

Obamacare.

Why do people expect the government (i.e., the people) to provide for their every need???? Really, can someone dare take a stab at when this expectation began?

Did the early, early arrivals in the New World come here because they heard that someone here was gonna provide their every need and there would never be a chance that, from time to time things would maybe be tight or even maybe extremely lean? That there were no guarantees in life and that you just might fail or starve to death in this new land??

Somewhere along the way we lost it.

Ahhhh . . .

If anything, "Obamacare" is anti-entitlement.

It makes people buy health insurance so that hospitals and such don't have to provide them with free care when they stumble into an Emergency Room with a tummy ache, or tire marks across their abdomen.

As Greg pointed out, it was the GOP-approved method of dealing with health care until a few years back.
