My Estes clone kit sales are glacially slow, but I always give credit to the original company and encourage buyers to also buy the original when/as available. Also I do not include decals so do not run up against copyright issues.
I think the upscale and regular scale markets are essentially mutually exclusive. I for one would love to see Estes make an upscale BT-70 Goblin and Patriot to accept the new 29mm motors and convert to 24mm as well.
There is some possibility of the industry agreeing on a "best practices" plan including royalties for off-scale uses of some company's designs. Sort of like FRAND licensing in patents.
