I had dinner Thursday night sitting next to the Midway, and had hopes of visiting it Friday, but alas, the best laid plans oft go awry... Next trip to SoCal, I'm blocking out an entire day for it!

From the restaurant, I could see one helo on the deck that was almost as old as the Midway With her armored deck, she was supposed to sit lower in the water than the earlier carriers (ie, Essexes) but it still looked like a long dive from the deck

The Nimitz was in across the harbor along with CVN-76, but I have to look that one up. My brain only goes up to CVN-68.
