Saw a Czech model in an old magazine that used a string taped to the motor to pull the pod off. There was a small hatch at the front of the pod that was supposed to pop open and release a streamer. Didn't always work so the pod would trail behind the heavier motor and supposedly act like a airbrake. I like this method better and I will try it on my glider kits I'm building.
