Default Cloud Hopper Clone

I figure I've got some new street cred coming, because I've cloned a Goonybird.

Except I'm not doing it rabbit-themed, I'm doing it chinchilla-themed. I've drawn a new set of stickers, which are presently in the hands of my digital-artist daughter for clean-up and enhancement.

And I've added the nose weight it should have had in the first place.

It's called "Chin UP!"

You get forum cred, but the people on the street should likely remain in blissful ignorance. They just don't get it. Cudos. Post pics when the time comes.

Flight day is Friday, so I have to be wrapped by Wednesday night. But if I post pics, I'll lose the forum cred to unfilled spirals and wood grain.

Only among the lace curtain types who still have "people" to cut up their dinner.

Bill,

So, dinner?

Have your people call my people.

Oh, wait... I'll have to accumulate some people first.

Yeah, if my people call you, your couch will be packed for weeks.

Sticker designs done, ready to print ... model assembled ... model weight actually similar to Rocksim prediction, yay.

Except now Rocksim says it's too heavy to get off the pad. My own sim tool says thrust-to-weight is just too feeble for any mini motor. I could cut out the mini mount and put in a standard, and then the CG/CP relationship goes wrong again.

I think I fold. Pics still coming, but it's going to be a hangar chin.

Oh dear. But if I swap for a two-motor cluster ...

Oh, you're in Nevada. You should have plenty of space to keep from hitting anything, and the altitude is park-flyer level. I counsel launch. Grip and rip.

I appreciate your counsel. As it turns out, part of my range crew had wisdom teeth removed, so we shall not be torturing him with an outing that would expect him to move his neck and talk. Countdown recycled to T-minus-12 days.

Just enough time to rejigger the Chin, which is probably going to be the heaviest model in my fleet when I'm done. A ridiculous fate for a ridiculous rocket. All my fleet are "park" flyers, in that I've chosen a personal ceiling of 650 feet and an impulse cap of B power.

You'd think flying in Nevada, with its ample public lands, would be easy. But most of those ample public lands are amply decorated with highly flammable shrubbery. I've got my eye on a big patch of sandy dirt that off-roaders have churned up about a half-hour north. My other basic alternatives are the club launches (August canceled) an hour away, or The Black Rock a touch over two hours away. I'm whiny. If I can make this work closer to home, I'll do it.
