That may be a record for a Big Bertha: $440.

So, all told this seller had a good haul and probably had no idea they’d bring in what they did. Box of parts and kits all from 1967. All from an estate, like the original owner ordered the kits and parts, they received the order in 1967, then put the box away until it was recently found. True time capsule.

Box of vintage parts: $228

Big Bertha: $440

Drifter: $431

Mark: $416

About a $1500 haul. Not bad considering the eBay seller may have paid only $30-$40 for these items at an estate sale.

I really wanted that box of parts. Couldn’t drop $200+ on it though. That was some nice stuff.

I was only willing to spend $50 on that box of parts.
I'm cheap when it comes to balsa and cardboard be it circa 1967 or 2017

Those prices paid are ABSURDLY INSANE.
Completely A$ININE.

Two questions:

1) Who was the rocketeer that originally owned these items?

2) Who was the person who bought these items? Does he/she belong to a club/section/prefect?

I do not know the answer to either question Bob.

The eBay seller shows as being in Highland Park, NJ. I dropped them a line when these items first appeared to see if maybe there was a packing list or order form in the box of parts that maybe they could scan or photograph that would help show just what all parts were in the box of parts. They answered promptly that unfortunately, there was no order form in the box. But, I did not ask them any other questions. I doubt they would be willing to say who actually won the auctions, though some people have apparently been able to find out/deduce who certain eBay winners are sometimes.

But, if you want to follow the link in the original post about these auctions and contact the eBay seller directly and see what they are willing to divulge, you might get lucky.

Looks like the box of parts may have been a 'Launch Pad Special'. Page 60 in the 1967 catalog. Five bucks back in 1967. Wow.

There was an essentially complete 1966 Estes Orbit Special in the original box that went for 80 dollars a few years ago. Things have got a little nuts as GH says.
