I see the Old #19 and Old #24 blades were still catalogued in 1984.

The only reason they changed these was for cheaper manufacturing using less steel. In NO way were they improved. Just reduced the cutting area of the blade.
I carefully hoard the Old #24 blades.

The 84-86 catalogs are all very similar; similar design and layout with all three of them. The ‘84 did have a price list with it, which I included in the center of the catalog.

The ‘85 catalog is listed on the front cover as their “50th Anniversary” catalog.

Thanks again Scot for hosting these for us.

I am starting on the ‘75 catalog and will hope to have it done for posting in about a week. This one is a little closer to some of our vintage tool collecting years and has many more product and packaging photos as compared to the three mid-80s catalogs recently scanned and posted.

Thanks again Scot for hosting these for us. I think this is like the 19th Xacto catalog we have been able to obtain and scan.

This ‘75 catalog has a great many period product and product packaging photos, which helps with dating some of these tools, compared to just ‘line’ drawings of tools. The ‘75 catalog also debuts those squarish black plastic knife blade safety dispensers, which I had thought might have been a few years older than ‘75.

This catalog also helps further date those diagonal multi-colored printed bands on some packing two years further back than the 1977 catalog; the first catalog I had sighted them in. So, now I know that Xacto items in those type packages can go back possible to ‘75. But, until we can get ‘74 or ‘73 (or even’72) catalogs, we might find that type of packaging goes back even further than ‘75.

But, it is nice to see much more actual product photography in this ‘75 catalog compared to the line drawings in the ‘84 through ‘86 catalogs also just recently obtained and scanned. But, even those three catalogs filled an information ‘hole’ as to when Xacto left their long-standing Van Dam Street address in Long Island City, NY. The ‘85 catalog shows that Van Dam Street address, whereas the ‘86 catalog showed a move to the Statesville, NC address.

Snagged a '64 catalog earlier today. Once it arrives here, probably in a week, I'll scan and forward to Scott for posting in this thread.
